Part 2

In this part, we will discuss the 4 pm checkout.

The 4 pm checkout is a game-changer when you are traveling; there is nothing worse than having to wake up early, finish packing, eat breakfast and then hope the front desk may extend your room for an extra hour so you don’t feel too rushed.

With a 4 pm checkout, you may schedule a flight in the evening or late afternoon, enjoy your day sightseeing, or relax in your suite on your last day. Never worry about calling the front desk trying to get a 12-noon checkout and not having room to come back to and rest after having a nice lunch, sightseeing, or some last-minute shopping! What’s the value of that experience? Priceless.

Now, let’s look at it from a monetary value. If your room costs 250.00 a night – if you divide 250.00 by 24 hours, that would be $10.41 per hour to stay in the hotel. Most of the time, check-in is at 3 pm, and check out at 11 am, resulting in only 20 hours or $12.50 per hour. On the last day as a platinum member, you gain, on average, four extra hours by not checking out at noon. The result is approximately $50.00 in added value each time you check out of a Marriott Hotel using your 4 pm checkout benefit!

Completing 50 nights every year and doing it in stay lengths of 5 nights at a time, results in an average of $500.00 in added value by being a Marriott Bonvoy platinum member. Averaging two-night stays would increase your value to about $1,250 annually!
